The Enchanting Isaland of Lanzarote
El Golfo. Located on the West Shore an interesting beach of lava stone and natuarl water pool. Nearby is Hervideros where you watch the waves gush up through the porous rocks.
The island is made up of volcanic rock, and appears very barren (moon scape) due to the very low rain fall. Getting around is easy with many things to see and do.
Papagayo beach. A string of connected beaches with beautiful clean soft sand. This a conservation area where no development is allowed ie no resturants and the car park is set back from the beach.
Windsurfing off Costa Teguise. This is quite windy (and great for windsurfing). Also is the place for golf, Aquadrome and clubs (limited number)
There are several go-kart tracks, eg this one near to the airport
Timanfaya Park is on the main Volcano. You can walk around, or go by camel, and then have a meal which is cooked on the heat from the volcano.
Cesar Manrique was a Lanzarote artist who has had a massive influence on the island. The outside (colours) of buildings is limited, and no building can be more than 4 stories. There are many examples of his work around the island, including this exhibition of his work.

A quite tasty wine is produced on the island (especially the rose) despite the lack of rain. Each vine is grown in a stone circle to protect it from the wind and to enhance moisture uptake during the night's heavy dew.
